Slow start costs Cleckheatons U15’s
The long journey to Pocklington didn’t do the U15’s any favours as they were caught cold by a very well-organised home team. Pocklington rucked very well and distributed the ball along the backs to score five unanswered tries in the first half.
At 29-0 down at half-time, there was a chance Cleckheaton might collapse, but to their credit, they improved as the game went on and matched the home team in the 2nd half. After five minutes of constant pressure, Cleckheaton finally scored through Alex Hogg with Mikey Bray converting.
Solid scrummaging was a strength for Cleckheaton as usual but Pocklington not only attacked well, but defended when they had to in the second-half. If Cleckheaton can start games the way they finished this one, then they will soon return to their winning ways.
Dalton Yates and Charlie Humphreys were named joint Man of the Match for their constant tackling whilst under pressure.
U-15 SQUAD: Mikey Bray, Oliver Clark, Keelan Cross, Kieran Dawson, Marcus Fletcher, Josh Healey, Alex Hogg, Charlie Humphreys, Ed Maw, Will Morris, Jacob Panther, Joe Roberts, Jordan Rosano, Nathan Smith, Kyle Wright, Tom Wrigley, Dalton Yates
