Instead of maintaining this tactic, Cleckheaton become involved in a middle of the pitch forward’s tussle. Kieran Dawson, Oliver Clark and Kyle Wright produced strong runs but were held up by a strong Hull defence. Joe Roberts, Ed Maw and Jordan Rosano scrummaged very well which enabled Joe Humphreys to send the ball out to the backs but often the windy conditions held the ball up and prevented Tom Wrigley and Jacob Panther from breaking through in their usual style of play. Strong tackling from Marcus Fletcher, Charlie Humphreys and Dalton Yates kept Hull at bay.

As the end of the game approached, Cleckheaton pushed full-back Joshua Healey into the line to add pressure and both Kieran Dawson and Nathan Smith were held up whilst over the try-line. The open spaces allowed Hull to attack and they finished the game with two more tries to make the final score 20-7 to Hull.

Kieran Dawson and Alex Hogg were named joint Man of the Match.
