Determination and a cold wind push the 4ths all the way
Hoping to travel the short distance to Ossett with a full Team and a couple of subs the 4ths found themselves with 14 players , kindly Ossett leant a Winger who wanted to help his mate out with some dental work !! and a Prop who was as tall as he was wide .
The first half was a good hard fought encounter with neither side really able to establish the upper hand , excellent scrummaging saw Cleck take a number against the head with ball shooting out to the backs who were unlucky not to break the Ossett line , what can only be described as Barn Storming runs into the Ossett half by Steve Smith should have been followed up with trys but too many bodies on the floor made it hard to back up. Near the end of the half Ossetts 10 managed to sqeeze through to score under the posts .
The second half was ding dong battle with neither side giving too much , a slight scuffle saw Ossetts no8 have a 10min break and the extra man helped Sam Womersley chip over and score next to the posts.
There was a small passage where Womersley poped the ball to Womersley who passed to Womersley who then passed to Womersley and then he kicked the ball dead !! more creative running from Smith gained excellent ground but with no score. In the last few minutes Cleck managed to break through the defence on the blind side for Sam to go through and score his second try , not even a 10min break for one of Clecks best tacklers of the day could help Ossett and Cleck held on to win.
Many thanks to the Ossett lads who played thier part in the match and never took a backward step playing for us.
